I never thought I'd see the day that we actually got a dog. The kids have wanted one for years but I just couldn't sign off on the hair and poop! Ah! When we found out we were moving to Texas we knew it would be another transition for the kids and we basically owed them. We thought this 'might' be a good time to entertain the reality of getting one. After we got in the accident and saw that Mason was really struggling with anxiety we decided that getting him an animal would be the best thing for him. We knew it would be good for all of the kids but we knew in our heart it's what Mason needed. If we were going to do this we wanted a really good dog. We wanted a smaller dog (while I did, Seth wanted a big one), one that didn't shed much at all & was great with kids. Not much to ask right?! So hard finding a dog with our must haves. We went to shelter after shelter, visited with dog after dog. It was sad to see so many that needed a home. We went so many Saturdays on the hunt for our dog. I waited for one to feel right. I started to not think thats the way it goes that maybe there wasn't one meant for us. We even found what we thought might be it and adopted a little guy named Ralphie only to have him bite Aiden on day 2, we made sure the Shelter wasn't going to put him down but rather find him another home and took him back. It was devastating. We almost lost hope but we kept going. We FINALLY found her! I knew it the moment I saw her picture. She was with a organization called Chewy's hope they were serious about placing their animals in the right home. We not only had to fill out an application but write a letter on how much she would mean to us, why we wanted a dog and how we would incorporate her into our family! They even called our references. Good thing we've adopted but adding something to our family and loving it was our speciality. After a home visit we were the ones that were chosen to be Izzy's family. We were ALL ecstatic. I never knew we'd love a dog so much but we are so smitten!
